Offshore

EXMAR has been active in the offshore industry since the eighties. EXMAR entered the offshore industry by building the first DP-3 drilling semisubmersible, the Super Yatzy, in 1986 at the Boelwerf Shipyard in Belgium. In 1989 EXMAR acquired the drilling fleet of Zapata Offshore and started the drilling contracting company, Arethusa Offshore, in Houston which was a publically listed company and was ultimately sold in 1997.

In 2001, EXMAR's focus in offshore shifted to floating production and accommodation units starting with the design and construction of the FPSO Farwah, which was delivered in 2003. EXMAR's most recent new build project is the OPTI-EX®, a production semisubmersible based on a proprietary hull design developed by EXMAR's engineering group in Houston, Texas. This project represents EXMAR's continued commitment to the offshore industry and to deepwater development.

In a continuing effort to expand its presence in West Africa, EXMAR pursues projects related to offshore support services and assets. These efforts build on experience and relationships from recent projects such as the delivery of the newly buildt accommodation and work barge, NUNCE that is employed under a long-term contract to Sonangol P&P in Angola.

Today, EXMAR's offshore activities focus on building, owning, and managing high-specification assets and providing solutions to support our customers' oil and gas field developments using the latest technologies. Building on decades of offshore experience, from exploration to production with services at both ends of the development spectrum, EXMAR is committed to expanding the ways in which it serves its customers.

EXMAR believes that innovation is the key to supplying our customers with a competitive edge. EXMAR's expertise in handling oil, gas, LNG, LPG, drilling systems, project management, construction, and marine consulting results in creative, effective, and efficient solutions for today's offshore oil and gas business environment.
