Crew and offshore personnel
Exmar is not a ship owner in the narrow sense of the word. Exmar is not only focussing on innovation of its assets, but also spends great attention to the training of its personnel en crew. These projects are mainly led by Exmar Shipmanagement, with the full support of the Exmar group.
Exmar is supporting several initiatives and has started cooperation with maritime academies around the world with a view to supporting the training of cadets and specialised crew. In this respect giving them the opportunity to gain experience on board of Exmar's ships and offshore units is one of the cornerstones.
Staff
From a broader point of view, Exmar also realizes the need for investment in the staff onshore, who are bringing projects and contracts to its ships and offshore assets and who are assisting and guiding the crew offshore.
Exmar also offers the opportunity too its staff for learning programs at universities or specialised institutions for the development of specific skills or more general and management skills.
Exmar also invests into potential recruits through its cooperation with different schools and in different ways. As a matter of example, Exmar offers the opportunity to students of various universities such as the University of Leuven, the University of Gent, the University of Delft, ... to do internships in several of its departments and offices. Another example of Exmar's investment in education is the participation of some of its personnel in tutoring activities at the Belgian Maritime Academy, the ITMAA, the University of Antwerp, the University of Delft
