LPG

Exmar, as an important owner of Ammonia carriers, plays an important role to satisfy worldwide increasing agricultural demands for Ammonia based fertilizers for growing crops as well as new cultures of crops to produce bio-fuels and bio-plastics.

Exmar's LPG fleet also delivers large volumes of LPG, essential in some countries' need for heating, cooking and motor fuel. Although LPG obviously is a fossil fuel, it releases far less CO2 per unit of energy that of coal or oil. In using LPG for heating and as motor fuel – which is also a substantially cheaper fuel – the effect on global warming is therefore limited.

LNG

Natural gas is the cleanest fossil fuel, producing less carbon dioxide per joule delivered than either coal or oil and far fewer pollutants than other hydrocarbon fuels.

Operations

In the operation of its fleet, Exmar is on top of new environmental legal requirements such as:

  • The low sulphur regulations as per MARPOL VI for SECA zones.
  • Green Passport for new ships anticipating on the IMO draft guideline on ship recycling.
