Newbuilding

Each project is first managed from one of the EXMAR technical offices: Antwerp (HQ), Houston EXMAR Offshore Company (EOC) or Paris (DVO). During construction and commissioning, supervision is carried out on site by EXMAR's own team.

EXMAR TECHNICAL has been in charge of new construction programmes for various shipping companies. As such, EXMAR TECHNICAL has managed the newbuilding of more than 120 ships of different types and sizes at more than 25 shipyards worldwide during the past 25 years:

  • LNGC tankers, 138,000 m³
  • LNGRV tankers, from 138,000 to 151,000 m³
  • LPG tankers from 3,000 to 85,000 m³
  • Crude oil tankers, from 85,000 to 300,000 tdw
  • Containerships, from 600 to 2,500 teu
  • Bulk carriers, from 68,000 to 177,000 tdw
  • Product tankers, 46,000 tdw

The newbuilding project management includes working out functional specifications, technical discussions with shipyards, assisting in contract negotiations, drawing approval and on-site supervision. For any type of project, the newbuilding supervision team combines:

  • Former shipyard staff;
  • Naval architects and marine engineers;
  • Mechanical and electrical engineers;
  • Senior ship staff recruited from our own fleet (Masters, Chief engineers);
  • Steel/outfitting foremen recruited from shipyards;

This combination allows EXMAR to put equal emphasis on the practical structural, outfitting and operational aspects of the newbuilding or conversion.
