EXMAR Ship Management complies with the ISM-code, the International Management Code for the Safe Operation of Ships and for Pollution Prevention (ISM Code). Over and above this, EXMAR has always ensured to have a Safety Management System based on the principles of continuous improvement, which meets and exceeds the demands and requirements of numerous international standards. For example, in 2014 EXMAR obtained ISO50001 certification which is a rigourous standard that integrates energy management into the company's overall efforts to improve quality and environmental management.
Environment and Health & Safety Standards
In 2011 EXMAR Ship Management obtained ISO 14001 certification and received the OHSAS 18001 certification in 2012. These certificates ensure continuous improvement in our environmental performance and in our Occupational Health & Safety management respectively.
The ISO Standard for the Oil and Gas Industry
In 2013, EXMAR Ship Management obtained the ISO 29001 certification, demonstrating the commitment as a supply chain service provider to the Oil and Gas Industry. Developed as a direct result of a partnership between ISO and the international oil and gas industry, this standard focuses on the oil and gas supply chain. It is based on the original ISO 9001 standard obtained by EXMAR Ship Management in 1998, and incorporates requirements aimed at defect prevention and the reduction of variation and waste.
The Tanker Self-Assessment Standard for the industry
EXMAR Ship Management applies Tanker Management and Self-Assessment (TMSA) as per OCIMF guidelines. The Tanker Management and Self Assessment is an in-depth guidance from OCIMF, including best industry practice guidance regarding quality, safety, health and environment. During reviews by OCIMF members, EXMAR Ship Management has been awarded with several Industry Best Practices.
